Mounties Fall at Lock Haven

MANSFIELD – Matt Tamanosky led Mansfield with 15 points but the Mountaineers could not solve Lock Haven in a 75-64 loss at Thomas Fieldhouse on Wednesday night in PSAC East play.

Tamanosky went 5-of-9 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the line to pace the Mounties. The senior also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds for Mansfield (6-13, 5-11 PSAC).

Malik Carter was the only other Mountie in double-figures with 10 points to go along with seven boards. Jeremiah Worthem and Jahmir Green each scored nine points with Worthem recording seven rebounds. Tyler Moffe chipped in seven points.

Amir Hinton scored a game-high 22 points for Lock Haven (7-12, 5-10 PSAC) with Tarojae Brake adding 19 points.

Lock Haven got out to a 12-4 start, but a 3-pointer by Gerasimos Koutoufas and a lay-up by Moffe brought the Mounties to within three. The Bald Eagles held a 29-13 lead with seven minute to play in the half, but Mansfield closed out the period on a 15-5 run to pull within six points at 34-28.

In the second half, a Tamanosky lay-up brought the Mansfield deficit down to just two points and another Tamansoky bucket a few minutes later tied the game. The Mounties took their first lead of the game at 51-50 on an Andreas Katopodis trifecta with 8:30 remaining. However, Lock Haven used a 14-2 run to take a big lead and never looked back.

The Mountaineers host East Stroudsburg at Decker Gymnasium on Saturday.
