MANSFIELD –
Matt Tamanosky and
Malik Carter combined for 39 points, but East Stroudsburg proved to be too much for Mansfield in an 82-67 PSAC East loss on Saturday at First Citizens Community Bank Court at Decker Gymnasium.
Tamanosky went 8-of-9 from the floor and hit four free throws to score a team-high 20 points for Mansfield (6-14, 5-12 PSAC). Carter posted 19 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists.
Gerasimos Koutoufas and
Tyler Moffe each added eight points.
Nick Giordano paced East Stroudsburg (15-5, 12-4 PSAC) with a game-high 24 points after connecting on 5-of-6 3-point attempts. Steve Harris,
Ralik Wise, and Marc Rodriguez all chipped in 11 points with Harris notching a double-double with 10 boards.
Carter scored the first points of the game for Mansfield, but the Warriors took over the lead and never relinquished it. East Stroudsburg led by as many as 14 points in the first half before going into the break with a 40-28 lead.
ESU maintained a double-figure lead for much of the second half with the Mountaineers dipping into a single-digit deficit on three occasions.
Mansfield registered the third best field goal pct. of the season, connecting on 54.2% (26-48) of attempts. However, the Mounties struggled at the free throw line shooting just 59.1% (13-22).
The Mounties continue a three-game home stand by taking on West Chester Wednesday at Decker.
