MANSFIELD:
Brielle Kelly topped three Mounties with 30 points as Mansfield earned its second conference victory in the PSAC East home opener on Wednesday.
Â
Lock Haven (2-9, 1-6 PSAC) opened the low scoring quarter with its highest lead of the game at six. A combined effort by
Alyssa Mullins and Kelly diminished the visitor's advantage before a Mullins buzzer beater regained the Mansfield lead 10-9.
Â
The Bald Eagles came back to outscore the Mounties in back-to-back play in the second frame.
Melanie Taylor ended the half with a layup in the last second to trail 27-26 at halftime.
Â
An
Erin Gibbons trifecta pushed Mansfield (4-9, 2-5 PSAC) past Lock Haven early in the third quarter. The Mounties would continue to pull away from the Eagles, never allowing their lead to fall below five. Kelly went off scoring 14 of her 30 points in the fourth quarter, shooting 5-7 from the floor and 100% from the line.
Â
The Mountaineers jumped out to their biggest lead of the game of 15 with one minute left in the game to secure the conference win.

th, 1,241).
Â
Taylor matched her career-best posting 15 points on the night shooting 50% from the floor and 2-5 from the outside. Mullins put up her third double-double of the season scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Â
Gibbons and
Mary Kate Rumbaugh added six and five points, respectively. Freshman
Paige Whitfield also grabbed six rebounds.
Rileigh Devine led the Eagles with 11 points while Jordyn Kloster grabbed a team-high eight boards.
Â
The Mounties outscored their opponent in all but one quarter while minimizing their turnovers.
