SLIPPERY ROCK – Mansfield scored 51 second-half points, but a slow start proved costly as Slippery Rock held on for an 82-75 win in PSAC crossover play at Morrow Field House on Saturday.

Cedrick Powell topped four Mounties in double-figure scoring with his season-high 19 points. Powell also recorded four assists and four steals in the game.

Malik Carter connected on three 3-pointers on his way to 18 points with
Jeremiah Worthem adding 11 points and
Gerasimos Koutoufas 10 points.
Tyler Moffe pulled down a team-best eight boards to go along with seven points.
Dan Ransom also had a season-best seven points.

Slippery Rock (14-3, 8-3 PSAC) was led by Micah Till's 29 points on the day. Brandon Simmons collected 18 rebounds to go along with 18 points.

The Rock got off to a 20-3 start over the first eight minutes of the game. Mansfield (4-10, 3-8 PSAC) would trail 39-24 at halftime.

Slippery Rock maintained a big lead throughout much of the second half and held a 19-point advantage at 62-43 with over 10 minutes to play. Back-to-back trifectas by Koutoufas aided Mansfield in a 9-0 run to bring the deficit down to 10 points.

The Mountaineers brought the SRU lead down to single digits three times but could not close the gap.
