Baseball Falls Twice in Florida Finale

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Mansfield dropped a pair of nine inning games to Seton Hill and Ohio Dominican on Friday to conclude its spring break trip.
 
Seton Hill took the morning game 7-3 before Ohio Dominican came away with a 9-3 win.
 
The Mountaineers jumped on perennial power Seton Hill (10-5) early with Peter Pena driving in Tanner Klein in the top of the first before Hunter Huyett and Dio Infante scored a pair of unearned runs in the second to lead 3-0.
 
The Griffins got one back in the bottom of the second before posting four runs in the fourth to take a 5-3 lead. Seton Hill tacked on insurance runs in the sixth and eighth innings.
 
Zach Martinelli struck out six and did not issue of walk over 7.0 innings for the win on the mound. Tanner Klein took the loss.
 
Game two was all Ohio Dominican (9-4) who went up 3-0 with a run in the first and two in the second. The Panthers added a run each in the fourth and fifth innings then two in each the seventh and eighth innings.
 
Taylor Hillson and Pena drove in runs in the bottom of the eighth to cut the deficit to 9-2. Hillson drove in another run in the ninth.
 
Matt Kittleberger threw a gem for the Panthers scattering eight hits and striking out eight with no earned runs.
 
Luke Hils struck out five in the loss.
 
The Mountaineers open their PSAC East slate next Friday at Lock Haven before hosting the Bald Eagles on Saturday for their home opener.
