MANSFIELD –
Brielle Kelly powered her way to 22 points and a career-high 18 rebounds to lift Mansfield past Cheyney 71-51 in PSAC East action at First Citizens Community Bank Court at Decker Gymnasium on Saturday.

Kelly is one of just five players in the conference to record 18 or more rebounds in a game. Eight of those came on the offensive glass. Kelly also connected on nine field goals and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line to net 22 points. It was her sixth double-double of the season.

Alyssa Mullins also registered a double-double for the Mountaineers recording 10 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
Tianna Jackson scored 13 points with
Mary Kate Rumbaugh adding 11 points.
Bella Ricci had eight points and a team-high four assists.

Quinniea Gross was just shy of a double-double for Cheyney with 10 points and nine boards.

The win completes the series sweep for Mansfield (5-16, 3-14 PSAC) against Cheyney (3-15, 3-14 PSAC) after defeating the Wolves 62-57 at Cope Hall on Jan. 6. The Mounties have won the last five meetings between the two programs.

Both teams started the game ice cold with Cheyney scoring the first points at the 6:47 mark before Mansfield got on the board with a Jackson trifecta at 5:07. The Mountaineers quickly jumped out to an eight-point lead at 14-6 and ended the quarter with an 18-8 lead.

Mansfield built its lead up to 14 points, but 10 straight points from the Wolves made it a two-possession game at 22-18. The Mountaineers never surrendered their lead and held at 32-27 advantage at the half.

The Mountaineers continued to roll in the second half, outscoring Cheyney 16-10 in the third quarter and 23-14 in the fourth. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Mansfield.

Mansfield held a massive 51-25 rebounding advantage in the game. The 51 boards is the second most all season while the 11 turnovers were the second least for MU.
