Free Tickets for Saturday's First Citizens Community Bank/Breast Cancer Awareness and 1997 Men's PSAC Basketball Championship Celebration Available at First Citizens Community Bank Tioga County Locations
MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University women's basketball team will face a key contest in their quest to earn a PSAC playoff berth when the Mountaineers host Cheyney University this Saturday afternoon on First Citizens Community Bank Court in Decker Gymnasium.
It is also First Citizens Community Bank/Breast Cancer Awareness Day as well as the 20th Anniversary Reunion of the 1997 PSAC Men's Basketball Championship team.
Game times are 1 p.m. for the women's game and 3 p.m. for the men's contest.
Free tickets for the game are available at any First Citizens Community Bank location in Tioga County and MU students are free with ID. Fans unable to make it to Decker Gymnasium can still follow all the action on ESPN Radio Williamsport with an audio line, along with a link for live stats, available at GoMouties.com.
ZTA will oversee fundraising and breast cancer awareness activities from their table in the lobby of Decker Gymnasium during both games.
Members of the 1997 men's PSAC Championship team that posted a 26-4 record and finished 10th in the nation will return to Decker Gymnasium to rehang their championship banner at halftime of the men's game.
The Mountaineers continued to show their season long improvement despite a 56-49 loss to Millersville Wednesday evening. Mansfield held a halftime lead for the second game in a row only to see that lead vanish in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter.
Mansfield won the first meeting between the two teams posting a 62-57 victory at Cheyney in early January. Junior
Brielle Kelly scored a game-high 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds while freshman
Bella Ricci added 11 points.
Mary Kate Rumbaugh just missed a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.
Kelly ranks among the top 15 scorers in the PSAC averaging 13.9 points per game and is 10th in the conference in rebounds averaging 7.6 boards per outing. Senior
Tianna Jackson also ranks among the league scoring leaders averaging 10.8 points per game.
Cheyney is led by TaKyla Ellis and Marion Herring who average 10.8 and 10.1 points per game respectively.
