Men’s Basketball Drops PSAC East Opener at ESU

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Jeremiah Worthem led Mansfield with a game-high 20 points, but East Stroudsburg proved to be too much in an 88-63 win in the PSAC East opener at Koehler Fieldhouse on Saturday.

Worthem connected on 7-14 shots from the floor to go along with 6-7 from the charity stripe to record his second game of 20+ points this season. The senior also pulled down eight rebounds.

Malik Carter was the only other Mountie in double-figure scoring with 11 points. Matt Tamanosky added eight with Cedrick Powell recording six points and six assists.

Steve Harris paced four Warriors in double-figures with 16 points along with 11 rebounds.

Mansfield (4-5, 3-3 PSAC) held leads on three different occasions through the early part of the game, but the Warriors regained the advantage on back-to-back 3-pointers at the 12:30 mark in the first half and never looked back. East Stroudsburg (8-2, 5-1 PSAC) took a 32-22 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Mountaineers pulled within just four points twice, but ESU built up and maintained a double-digit lead for the majority of the frame.

Mansfield hosts Lock Haven at Decker Gymnasium on Wednesday, Jan. 3
