FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mountie Rally Falls Short on Senior Day

MANSFIELD – Seniors
Katie Fitzpatrick and
Jessica Crawley combined for 29 points on Senior Day but Kutztown withstood a furious second half comeback to outlast Mansfield 84-75 Saturday afternoon on First Citizens Community Bank Court at Decker Gymnasium.
Mansfield trailed 24-8 after the first quarter and 39-28 at halftime before starting a furious comeback three minutes into the third quarter. The Mountaineers trailed 52-36 when Kutztown's Kelsey Watson hit a jumper with just under four minutes remaining in the quarter.
Mansfield's
Alyssa Mullins connected on two free throws, sparking a 14-0 run with the Mountaineers closing to 52-51 on 3-pointer by
Mary Kate Rumbaugh with a minute left in the third quarter.
Fitzpatrick tied the game at 54-54 with a layup as the buzzer sounded to end the quarter.
Kutztown pulled away in the fourth quarter, taking a 74-63 lead with under four minutes to go before Mansfield came back to cut the advantage to 78-73 on a layup by
Becky Evans with under a minute remaining.
Fitzpatrick led the Mountaineers with 15 points and seven assists in her final game in Decker Gymnasium while fellow senior
Jessica Crawley recorded a double-double with a career-high 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Tianna Jackson and Evans each had 12 points with Mullins chipping in with 10 points.
Jenna Altomare scored a game-high 18 points to top Kutztown with Kelsey Watson adding a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Gina Lewis also had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Mansfield travels to Millersville on Monday.
