FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Fall to Kutztown in Home Finale
MANSFIELD –
Joe Marshall and
Thomas Moore combined for 27 points but Mansfield fell to division-leading Kutztown in the Mountaineers home finale Saturday afternoon on First Citizen Community Bank Court in Decker Gymnasium.
Mansfield never was able to get started early, trailing the Golden Bears 20-6 after the first eight minutes of play.
The Mountaineers closed the gap to 40-28 on a steal and layup by
Brad Williams to close out the first half.
Mansfield never managed to pull any closer in the second half, trailing by 13 points at 68-55 after a
Matt Tamanosky layup with five minutes remaining in the game.
The Mountaineers were outrebounded 41-28 by the taller Golden Bears with Kutztown also holding a 51%-38% shooting advantage.
Marshall came off the bench to score a game-high 16 points while Moore, the Mountaineers only senior, added 11 points on Senior Day.
Ryan Connolly topped five Kutztown players in double-figures with 15 points.
Mansfield travels to Millersville on Monday.
