Misericordia Uses Long-Ball to Down MountiesMANSFIELD –
Matt Tamanosky and
Brad Williams combined for 30 points but Misercordia used an 18-3 run midway through the second half to pull out a 82-67 win in a non-conference game Saturday on First Citizens Community Bank Court in Decker Gymnasium.
The first half was a back-and-forth affair with a combined 13 ties or lead changes before Misericordia used a 7-2 run to close out the first half with a 37-31 lead.
The Cougars extended their lead to 42-33 early in the second half on a 3-pointer by Jason Kenny before Mansfield slowly started chipping away, closing the margin to 50-49 on a layup by Williams with just over 13 minutes to play.
Misericordia counted with a 7-0 run increasing their advantage to 68-52 after a 18-3 run to put the game out of reach.
The Cougars were deadly from long-distance during the run ending the game hitting eleven 3-pointers to pick up their seventh win of the season.
Mansfield, which held a 45-35 rebounding advantage, was paced by Tamanosky with 16 points and eight rebounds. Williams added 14 points and seven boards while
Thomas Moore chipped in with 11 points.
Kenny had a game-high 21 points for Misericordia with James Hawk adding 15 points.
Mansfield travels to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday.
