#7 Seton Hill Rallies Past Upset-Minded Mounties, 7-5

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: #7 Seton Hill Rallies Past Upset-Minded Mounties, 7-5

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Taylor Hillson scored a pair of runs and drove two more as Mansfield led the No. 7 Griffins through the early part of the game, but defending Atlantic Region Champion Seton Hill rallied to pull out a 7-5 victory Saturday night at Jack Russell Memorial Stadium.

It was Mansfield who drew first blood, when Anthony Renz plated Hillson with a two-out double in the gap of right field. Hillson led-off the inning by reaching on an error then stealing second.

Seton Hill evened the score in the second when Chris Miller scored on a wild pitch. The Griffins scored again in the top of the third inning to take a 2-1 lead when Miller scored on a Cody Herald RBI double.

In the bottom of the inning, Hillson reached on a one-out bunt single and advanced to second on a throwing error. Eric Schanzenbacher laced an RBI single to left field in the next at bat to score Hillson and tie the game. A Westyn Baylor double put runners on second and third, but back-to-back outs ended the inning.
Seton Hill tacked on another run in the fourth to regain the lead at 3-2.

Ryan Paige led off the bottom of the fourth with a double before Owen Lukens reached on a hit by pitch. In the next at bat, Dave Glueck drew a walk to load the bases with one out. Hillson drove in Paige and Lukens with a single through the middle then moved over to second on an error. Schanzenbacher was hit by a pitch to load the bases before Baylor's sacrifice fly brought in Glueck and gave Mansfield a 5-3 advantage.

Two more runs for Seton Hill in the top of the fifth knotted the game at 5-5. The Griffins scored runs in the sixth and eighth innings to rally for the PSAC crossover victory.

Jordan Fuller allowed four earned runs in 5.0 innings to earn his second victory of the season. Perry DellaValle allowed just two walks through the final two innings for his second save of the season. Matt Engler took the loss, allowing five earned runs in 5.0 innings of work.

Hillson went 2-for-5 at the plate with a pair of runs and RBIs. Garret Vrbanic led Seton Hill offensively going 3-for-4 with three runs.

The Mounties take on Upper Iowa in a doubleheader tomorrow starting at 10 a.m.
