Tamanosky, Lewis and Koutoufas Score Career-High's but Mounties Fall at No. 3 West Liberty in Season OpenerWEST LIBERTY, WV – Sophomore
Matt Tamanosky recorded his first-ever collegiate double-double but it wouldn't be enough as Mansfield dropped at 114-65 decision to NCAA Division II No. 3 ranked West Liberty in the opening round of the Charles and Lavoo Crutchfield Classic Saturday evening.
The game was the season-opener for both teams.
Tamanosky, a sophomore, set career-highs with his 16 point, 12 rebound effort and connected on 7-of-11 shots from the floor.
Tamanosky had nine points and eight rebounds in the first half before picking up his third personal foul. His eight first half rebounds surpassed his career-game high of six recorded in a win over Penn College to open the 2014-15 season.
Sophomore
Eric Lewis Jr. also recorded a career-high game scoring 15 points while sophomore
Andreas Katopodis and freshman
Seth Chisholm both scored nine points. Sophomore
Gerasimos Koutoufas had a career-high eight points.
Seger Bonifant topped seven Hilltoppers in double-figures with a game-high 24 points.
Mansfield plays Notre Dame College (OH) on Sunday.
