FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Women's Basketball Hosts #20 Bloomsburg on Wednesday
MANSFIELD – After a two-game road trip, Mountaineer women's basketball returns home to host No. 20 Bloomsburg at First Citizens Community Bank Court at Decker Gymnasium on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
Wednesday is YMCA Day at Decker with free tickets available at the Tioga County Branch YMCA in downtown Mansfield.
The Mountaineers dropped both games on the road last week, falling 74-36 at Mercyhurst before being edged 90-78 at Shippensburg. Junior
Katie Fitzpatrick turned in a pair of stellar individual performances in those games, setting a school record for steals in a game with 11 against Mercyhurst then scoring a career-best 32 points at Shippensburg.
Fitzpatrick leads the Mounties in scoring, averaging 12.5 points a game and is second in rebounding at 5.7 boards a game. Freshman
Brielle Kelly is putting up 9.5 points a game while leading the Mounties in rebounding with 5.8 boards an outing.
Becky Evans is scoring 9.0 ppg while
Tianna Jackson adds 8.5 ppg.
The defending PSAC Champion Huskies enter Wednesday's game with an 11-2 overall record and is riding a four-game win streak. Bloomsburg's only two losses of the season came in the season opener against New Haven and against No. 25 IUP on Dec. 20.
The Huskies feature a balanced scoring attack with Adreana Sadowski (12.5 ppg), Marla Simmons (12.2 ppg) and Taylor Maldonado (11.1 ppg) leading the way offensively. Sadowski also tops the team in rebounding with 7.4 points a game.
