FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Baseball Powers Past Kutztown 11-4 in Nightcap to Earn Series Split

MANSFIELD – Seth Tressler went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and Westyn Baylor stroked a three-run home run as Mansfield powered past Kutztown 11-4 in game two of PSAC East baseball at Kelly Field Wednesday afternoon. Kutztown took the opener 8-5.

Mansfield (16-11, 4-8 PSAC East) pushed across the first run of the nightcap in the bottom of the first inning when Stanton Tentnowski doubled down the left field line to score Tressler. The Mountaineers added two more runs in the second inning with Tressler's single through the left side to plate Taylor Hillson and Wes Custer.

Kutztown (18-11, 6-8 PSAC East) rallied for four runs in the top of the third inning to take a 4-3 lead.

Tressler struck again in the bottom of the fourth inning, smoking a double down the left field line to score Custer and Brandon Miller and put Mansfield back on top. With bases loaded, Johnny LeClair took one for the team with an RBI hit by pitch to put the Mountaineers up 6-4.

In the fifth inning, Brandon Miller scored his second run of the game on a wild pitch.

Tressler scored again in the sixth on a fielding error by the Golden Bear shortstop before Baylor put the game out of reach on a three-run homer to right center field. It was Baylor's fifth home run of the season which is tied for third most in the PSAC.

Louis Sick picked up his first win of the season, tossing 4.0 innings with four earned runs and two strike outs. Zach Sacoman threw 3.0 innings of no-hit baseball to close out the game and earn his first save of the year.

John Dockins and Brandon Cholish led the Bears at the plate with two hits apiece. Cholish drove in a pair of runs in the game.

Kutztown took an early lead in game one, scoring three runs on two hits and an error in the top of the first inning. The Bears added another run in the fourth on Dockins' sacrifice fly to lead 4-0.

In the top of the fifth inning, Carson Baker came through with a big three-run homer before Drew DeShong scored on a ground out to extend the Kutztown's lead to 8-0.

Mansfield wouldn't go away without a fight, answering back with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Anthony Renz scored the first run on a Taylor Hillson RBI single up the middle before Tressler and Hillson were brought in on Eric Schanzenbacher's single to left centerfield. Miller scored the final run of the inning on a wild pitch.

With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Stanton Tentnowski scored on a heads up play with Tressler caught in a run down between first and second base. The run cut Kutztown's lead to 8-5 but the Mounties could pull no closer.
Brandon Shimo earned the win, tossing 4.1 innings with just one earned run and no walks. Shimo sat down six batters during his outing.

Mansfield travels to East Stroudsburg on Friday for PSAC East play before returning home on Saturday to host the Warriors.
