th Career Point as Kutztown Edges Mansfield 67-60

Jena Matter scored a team-high 17 points to become the 15
th player in Mansfield women's basketball history to reach the 1,000 point milestone Thursday night at Keystone Arena, but the Mountaineers were just edged out in a close 67-60 PSAC East battle at Kutztown.
Matter was held to just two points and two rebounds in the first half, but caught fire in the second, going 5-of-7 from the field for 15 points while also grabbing nine rebounds. Matter's 17 total points and 11 rebounds marks her third consecutive and ninth double-double of the season. The forward is averaging 18 points and 14.3 rebounds over her last three games.
Matter scored her 1,000
th point on a free throw with 6:01 remaining in the game. Sitting at 1,004 career points, she is just seven points away from moving past Jessica Pfeiffer (2000-04) for 14
th on the Mansfield all-time scoring list.

Katie Fitzpatrick scored 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds while freshman
Tianna Jackson added 12 points. Sophomore
Katie Yale recorded a career-high eight rebounds in the game.
Kutztown was led by Kelsey Watson who put up a game-high 19 points off the bench. Adiva Campbell chipped in 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Golden Bears.
The Mountaineers didn't let Kutztown out of their sights for the majority of the first half, keeping it a two-possession game for the first 15 minutes. The Golden Bears led by as many as 12 points in the half before taking a 36-26 lead into halftime.
Kutztown began to pull away in the second half, leading by 15 points with 15:55 to play in the game. However, Mansfield continued to chip away at the deficit and trailed by eight points with just over 10 minutes remaining.
Mansfield pulled within three points twice in the final two minutes, but the Bears held on for the win.
The Mounties held a 43-31 rebounding advantage in the game. A majority of the game's scoring was inside as both teams totaled 40 points in the paint.
Mansfield returns to Decker Gymnasium on Saturday for a PSAC East clash with Cheyney.
