SHIPPENSBURG – Katie Fitzpatrick poured in a career-high 26 points as the Mountaineers threatened to knock-off Shippensburg Wednesday night at Heiges Field House, but the Lady Raiders held on for an 82-72 PSAC East victory.

Both teams exchanged leads over the first five minutes of the game, before Mansfield used a 9-0 run to jump out to a 16-9 lead at the 12:40 mark. The Mountaineers led for the majority of the half until a Sarah Strybuc 3-pointer with 5:46 remaining in the half gave Shippensburg a one point lead at 23-22.

The Raiders went on to hit eight of their next 10 shots, including a pair of made 3-pointers, over the final five minutes to take a 41-29 lead into halftime. Shippensburg closed out the half on a 26-9 run over a 9 minute and 40 second span.

Shippensburg scored in the opening seconds of the second half to widen its lead to 14 points, but the Mountaineers slowly chipped the deficit down to seven with 14:18 remaining.

With Shippensburg leading 57-47 at the 14:03 mark, the Mountaineers used a 12-3 run over the next five minutes to close within one point. Mansfield maintained a two possession game until the 3:38 mark when the Raiders began to pull away.

Fitzpatrick had a career night, going 10-of-15 from the field and connecting on all six free throw attempts to score a game-high 26. The sophomore also recorded six assists and tied a career-best in steals with five.

Alyssa DeRichie recorded 12 points and six rebounds in the game. Megan McSwain added 11 points with Jena Matter and Tianna Jackson each chipping in eight. Matter pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

Shippensburg's starting line-up combined for 68 points with just four points coming off the bench. Caitlyn Deeter and Morgan Griffith led with 17 points each. Strybuc scored 16 points with Stephanie Knaur and Lauren Gold both adding 14.

Mansfield connected on its first 15 free throw attempts and went 16-18 (88.9%) for the game. The Mountaineer's 42.9% (27-63) shooting from the field was the most since their first meeting against Shippensburg in January.

Mansfield returns to Decker Gymnasium on Saturday to host Bloomsburg for Senior Day.
