Fitzpatrick and Matter Combine for 43 Points, but Mounties Fall to West Chester

Box Score

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Fitzpatrick and Matter Combine for 43 Points, but Mounties Fall to West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Katie Fitzpatrick and Jena Matter combined for 43 points, but West Chester's potent offense was too much for Mansfield as the Golden Rams came away with the 92-62 PSAC East victory Saturday afternoon at Hollinger Field House.

Fitzpatrick went 8-of-16 from the floor and hit six free throws to score a game-high 23 points for the Mounties. It was the highest total for the sophomore this season and just one point shy of her career-high 24 points against Slippery Rock in 2012.

Matter recorded her second consecutive and seventh double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds. The senior now sits just 13 points away from becoming the 15th player in program history to hit the 1,000 point milestone. Matter also ranks eighth on the program's all-time rebounding list with 605 career boards.

Alyssa DeRichie, Megan McSwain and Maria Kelleher all hit a pair of three pointers to total six points each in the game.

Tianna Jackson recorded a season-high five assists in the loss.

PSAC leading scorer Dallas Ely led five Rams in double-figure scoring with her 23 points. Kendall Benovy and Brittany Sicinski both added 16 points with Anna Kuntz and Emily Torrance Chipping in 10 each.

The Mountaineers return to action on Wednesday at Kutztown.
