Katie Fitzpatrick scored a team-high 14 points, but Mansfield couldn't overcome No. 23 California (Pa.) in an 83-43 PSAC crossover loss Saturday afternoon at First Citizen's Community Bank Court at Decker Gymnasium.

Fitzpatrick connected on 6-of-12 field goals and was 2-for-2 at the free throw line to lead the Mountaineer offense. The junior also tallied four assists, two blocks and two rebounds.

Freshman
Brielle Kelly recorded eight points and eight rebounds for Mansfield (1-9, 0-7 PSAC) with
Becky Evans adding six points.

California (10-1, 7-0 PSAC) was led by Shatara Parsons who came off the bench to score a game-high 16 points. Leading scorer Emma Mahady had 11 points with Miki Glenn and Seairra Barrett adding 10 points each. Barrett and Brittany Nelson each pulled down a game-high nine boards.

After two straight Cal buckets to open the game, back-to-back lay-ups by Evans and Kelly tied the score at four points each. However, the Vulcans built their lead up to 12 points with just over 10 minutes to play in the half before taking a 43-18 advantage into halftime.

California continued to build its lead in the second half, outscoring MU 40-25 to come away with the victory.

The Vulcans held a 41-25 advantage on the boards. Cal shot 53.2% (33-62) from the floor while holding Mansfield to just 35.2% (19-54) shooting in the game.

The Mounties host Lincoln in non-conference action tomorrow at 5 p.m.
