FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Women's Basketball Welcomes Cheyney for PSAC East Home Opener on Saturday
 
MANSFIELD – Mountaineer women's basketball will look to earn its first PSAC East victory of the season when the Cheyney Wolves visit First Citizens Community Bank Court at Decker Gymnasium on Saturday, Nov. 22.

After a convincing 106-43 season-opening victory over Central Penn last Saturday, the Mountaineers struggled in their PSAC East road opener at Kutztown, suffering a 93-61 setback. Junior Katie Fitzpatrick scored a team-high 11 points against the Golden Bears while freshman Becky Evans scored 10 points in 17 minutes before leaving the game with an injury.
 
Cheyney is winless at 0-2 after falling 67-54 in its season opener to Mercy before dropping an 88-58 decision to Bloomsburg on Wednesday.
 
Mansfield is sixth in the PSAC in scoring offense averaging 83.5 points an outing while allowing 68.0 points to opponents which ranks 10^th in the conference. The Mountaineers have the second best assist/turnover ratio in the PSAC at 1.40.
 
Sophomore Tianna Jackson leads the Mounties in scoring, averaging 11.5 points an outing while freshman Brielle Kelly is just shy of averaging a double-double with 11.0 points and 9.5 rebounds. Evans is averaging 10.0 points a game through her first two career starts.
 
Cheyney's Kyra Hines-Allen paces the Wolves in scoring at 14.5 points a game while Kia Whitley-Duncan is averaging 10.0 points a game. Taschell Phillips leads Cheyney on the boards with 7.5 rebounds a game.
 
The Mountaineers host LeMoyne on Tuesday for a non-conference bout at Decker Gymnasium.
