FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Matter's Double-Double Not Enough as Mounties Drop 70-56 Decision to Seton Hill

MANSFIELD – Jena Matter recorded her fifth double-double of the season, but it wouldn't be enough as visiting Seton Hill came away with a 70-56 victory over the Mansfield in PSAC crossover action Saturday afternoon at First Citizens Community Bank Court at Decker Gymnasium.

Matter scored a game-high 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Mansfield (0-13, 0-4 PSAC East). The senior also recorded a career-high five assists and led the Mounties in steals with three.

Katie Fitzpatrick, who scored all 12 points in the second half, was the only other Mansfield player in double-figures. Freshman Kayla Allen added a career-best six points and five boards in the loss.

Alyssa DeRichie dished out a game-high seven assists.

Paige Alviani went 6-of-9 from the floor and was 3-of-5 from beyond the arc to lead Seton Hill (8-5, 1-3 PSAC West) with 17 points. Tiara Stossel and Kelly Brennan each added 13 points for the Griffins.

The Mountaineers were hampered by poor shooting, going 19-61 (31.1%) from the floor and an ice cold 1-19 (5.3%) from 3-point.

Seton Hill held a slight rebounding advantage in the game at 40-38, but the Mounties outrebounded the Griffins 28-19 in the second half.

Mansfield travels to California (Pa.) on Wednesday for its final PSAC crossover game of the season. The Mountaineers open the heart of their PSAC East slate by hosting Millersville at Decker Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan 11.
