FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Grunza Scores, But Mounties Fall at No. 7 Bloomsburg 4-1

MANSFIELD – Kristen Grunza scored a goal for the second straight game, but Mansfield fell on the road to No. 7 Bloomsburg 4-1 Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

Bloomsburg took advantage of a 31-3 edge in total shots while four different Huskies scored goals in the game. Mansfield was limited to just one penalty corner while Bloomsburg totaled 11.

Bloomsburg peppered the Mountaineer defense early and often, but keeper Kristie Rollman made six saves and Jessi Swingle came up with a defensive save before yielding the first goal of the game. The Huskies' Nikki Black scored her first of the season in the 26th minute before Samantha Facciolla found the back of goal a minute later.

Trailing 2-0 at halftime, Mansfield got on the board in the 39th minute when Kayla Grunza deflected a Taryn Schawillie shot into goal to cut the defici. The goal was Grunza's second of the season.

Bloomsburg responded less than a minute later when Brittany Mathews finished a back-handed cross to take a 3-1 lead. Felicia Domenici notched her eighth score of the year just two minutes later to put the game out of reach.

The Mountaineers open PSAC play when they travel to No. 1 Shippensburg on Friday, Sept. 27.
