MANSFIELD – Lock Haven hit three home runs, including two by Austin Botts, to beat Mansfield 11-2 in a rare game of Home Run Derby Tuesday afternoon at Shaute Field.
The two teams squared off in a 9-inning non-conference game where the long ball accounted for most of the scoring.
Mansfield scored both of its runs of solo home runs, one by senior
Matt Fisher in the seventh and another on a
Joey Andrews round-tripper in the eighth.
Lock Haven, which avenged a 5-0 loss to Mansfield two weeks ago, pounded out 15 hits off of four Mountaineer pitchers.
Curtis Harpster started and took the loss for Mansfield with Garrett Shnyder going six innings to pick up the win for Lock Haven. Andrews, who also had a double, had two of Mansfield's six hits on the afternoon.
Mansfield falls to 21-25 overall and ends the season with a four-game series with Shippensburg starting with a doubleheader at Shaute Field on Friday.
