FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield Falls to West Chester 78-60
 
MANSFIELD – Katie Fitzpatrick scored a team-high 16 points with Julia Stevenson adding 14, but a tough West Chester squad proved to be too much as Mansfield fell with a final score of 78-60 Wednesday night at Decker Gym.
 
Fitzpatrick hit six field goals including 2-of-4 from 3-point to pace the Mountaineers. The freshman also recorded four steals and pulled down four boards in the loss.
 
Stevenson was 6-of-8 from the floor and was a perfect 2-for-2 from the charity stripe on the night. She also grabbed six rebounds.
 
The Golden Ram's Brittany Sicinski led all scorers with 17 points. Dallas Ely added 14 points while Jasmen Clark chipped in 10.
 
West Chester held a big rebounding advantage in the game at 46-26.
 
The Rams opened the game with nine straight points before Mansfield got on the board at the 16:47 mark. The Mounties trailed by 12 points less than two minutes later, but Mansfield stormed back on a 15-8 run to trail by five points with under 10 minutes to play.
 
West Chester slowly built their lead back to take a 37-24 advantage into halftime.
 
The Mountaineers closed back within eight points in just over two minutes of play in the second half, but West Chester scored eight unanswered to lead by 16 with 15:52 remaining.
 
Mansfield was unable to close the gap and was saddled with the loss.
 
The Mountaineers host Shippensburg on Saturday, Feb. 9 for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
