FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Close Season with 76-56 Loss to Kutztown
MANSFIELD –
Jena Matter led three Mounties in double-figure scoring, but it wouldn't be enough as Mansfield dropped a 76-56 decision in the season finale Wednesday night at Decker Gymnasium.
Matter connected on 6-of-9 from the field to lead the Mountaineers with 14 points. The junior added four boards, four assists and two steals in the game.

Shaleta Heyward each chipped in 10 points for Mansfield (5-21, 3-19 PSAC). Sophomore
Alyssa DeRichie grabbed a team-high seven boards while adding eight points.
Kutztown (15-11, 13-9 PSAC) was led by Ashley Wood who scored a game-high 21 points in the win. Alyssa Bonenberger was 8-of-11 from the floor as she recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 boards.
Natalya Lee scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds for the Golden Bears.
Mansfield scored the first points of the game on a Stevenson lay-up, but Kutztown jumped out to and 11-point lead in the opening eight minutes of the game. The Bears held a double-digit lead for much of the first half.
The Mounties closed within eight points on a DeRichie trey with 3:12 remaining until halftime, but Kutztown would take a 44-30 advantage into the break.
In the second half, The Bears maintained their double-digit lead through the entire second half. Mansfield closed within 10 points twice in the final five minutes, but Kutztown pulled away for the win.
