FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Struggle in 69-51 Loss at Cheyney

CHEYNEY – Jena Matter recorded her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds, but Mansfield shot 31.7% from the field as it struggled in a 69-51 loss at Cheyney in PSAC East play.

Matter was 6-of-9 from the floor in her fourth double-figure scoring effort of the season.

Katie Fitzpatrick was the only other Montaineer to hit double-figure scoring with 11 points. Alyssa DeRichie recorded nine points while Megan McSwain added eight in the contest.

Cheyney's Kyra Hines-Allen led all scorers with 18 points and pulled down eight boards. Kia Whitley-Duncan and Amber Genwright each scored 12 points for the Wolves.

Mansfield shot just 20-of-63 from the floor for its lowest percentage of the season.

The early part of the game saw three lead changes before Cheyney went on a 21-4 run over a 10 minute span. The Mounties went into halftime trailing 35-23.

Mansfield brought their deficit down nine points three diferent times in the second half, but could pull no closer.

The Mountaineers continue their four-game road trip when they travel to Lincoln on Saturday.
