FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mounties Fall to No. 5 West Chester on Senior Day

MANSFIELD – Megan Callanan scored a pair of goals to lead back-to-back defending national champion No. 5 West Chester past Mansfield 5-0 Saturday morning at Karl Van Norman Field.

Prior to the game seniors Ashley Bronston, Emily Heinaman, Lillian Hines, Kristie Rollman, Taryn Schawillie, Brianna Velepec and Sarah Zwick were honored for Senior Day.

The Mountaineers held the nationally-ranked Golden Rams scoreless for the majority of the first half until Marnie Kusakavitch recorded an unassisted goal on a fast break in the 29th minute. Callanan scored her first of the game in the final minute of the first half to put West Chester up 2-0 at halftime.

Callanan opened the second half with her second goal in the 37th minute. Alayna Brown and Lauren McGinley also notched goals in the game. Nancy Stehman assisted on the final three goals for the Rams.

Zwick, who currently ranks second in the nation in defensive saves, recorded her ninth of the season.

The Mountaineers travel to Seton Hill on Tuesday for their final PSAC contest of the season.
