FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield women can't recover from cold first half in loss at Mercyhurst

ERIE – Kayla Espigh topped four Mansfield players in double-figures with a game-high 15 points but it wouldn't be enough to rally the Mountaineers from ice-cold shooting in the first half in a 75-60 loss at Mercyhurst Friday evening.

Mansfield (3-7, 1-5 PSAC) held a 8-7 lead five minutes into the game before Mercyhurst would go on a 29-6 run over the next 10 minutes to take a 36-14 lead with just under five minutes to play in the first half.

The Mountaineers managed to connect on just 5-of-24 shots over the first 20 minutes while Mercyhurst hit a sizzling 60% of its shots in the first half.

Mansfield thawed out in the second half hitting 13-of-47 shots from the floor with Espigh nailing 4-of-5 3-pointers to score all 15 of her points in the second half.

Senior Julia Stevenson scored 13 points with a game-high eight rebounds but played just 11 minutes before fouling out. Junior Jena Matter also had 13 points with seven boards. Megan McSwain scored a season-high 11 points with eight of them coming in the first half.
Mansfield held a 36-31 rebounding advantage.

Mercyhurst (7-3, 3-3 PSAC) was led by Kelley McBroom who come off the bench to score 12 points. Kaylee Foster and Adrienne Kloecker scored 11 points each.
