FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mansfield women give strong effort against #21 Bloomsburg
MANSFIELD – Jenna Matter and
Shaleta Heyward combined for 29 points but it would be enough to overcome a potent Bloomsburg offense as Mansfield fell to the No. 21 ranked team in Division II 93-73 Wednesday night in Decker Gymnasium.

Bloomsburg(13-4, 9-3 PSAC), the top offensive team in the PSAC, built a 28-16 lead after 10 minutes but Mansfield refused to fold going on a 11-1 run over a three minute span to close to 29-27 on a 3-pointer by
Victoria Lacey.
Mansfield (4-12, 2-10 PSAC) trailed 41-37 after a 3-pointer from
Kayla Espigh with just over three minutes remaining before the Huskies put together a 14-3 run to take a 55-40 halftime advantage.
The scrappy Mountaineer continued to hang with PSAC East leading Bloomsburg until a Huskies 9-0 run later in the game to pull away for good.
Matter was 3-5 from the floor and hit 9-of-12 free throws to lead the Mountaineers with 15 points. Heyward come off the bench to score 14 points and connected on 3-of-6 3-pointers while pulling down a team-best 6 rebounds.
Kayla Espigh scored 12 points with
Katie Fitzpatrick adding 11 points.
Dana Wieller paced five Bloomsburg players in double-figures with a game high 22 points. Lauren Ellis scored 15 points and Kayla Oxenrider 13 points.
Mansfield host Cheyney this Saturday.
