MANSFIELD – Matt Fisher's grand slam in the fourth inning paced Mansfield to a 16-11 victory over visiting Lock Haven in a high scoring affair that saw 12 different pitchers from both sides Tuesday afternoon in PSAC inter-division play at Shaute Field.

Mansfield's 16 runs scored is the most since a 17-8 decision over Salem International on February 25, 2012.

Lock Haven drove home the go ahead run in the top of the first, but the Mountaineers answered back in the bottom half of the inning with two runs. Freshman Anthony Renz plated the first run with an RBI double to score Dylan Woodworth before Jon Moser reached home via a Jon Taddeo RBI groundout.

The score stood at 2-1 in Mansfield's favor until the Mountaineers opened the game up in the fourth. Taddeo, Steven Stopper and Brian Milliman each scored runs in the inning before junior Matt Fisher capped off the rally with a grand slam to bring home four more runs and give Mansfield the 9-1 advantage.

Just when it looked as though the Mountaineers would cruise to an easy victory, Lock Haven posted a five-run fifth inning to cut their deficit to 9-6.

In the bottom of the fifth, Woodworth ignited another Mansfield scoring rally with a double down the right field line that brought home Ernie Ruch and Jordan Miller who both reached base on walks. Senior Levi Weiskopff plated Woodworth with an RBI single before scoring on a Taddeo sacrifice fly to left to lead 13-6.

After a scoreless 6th inning, the Bald Eagles rallied for four more runs in the 7th to make the count 13-10.

The Haven hung another run on the board in the top of the 8th, but the Eagles were blanked when senior Andy Young came into close the game, pitching 2.0 innings while striking out three batters to earn his third save on the year.

Junior Danny Brown picked up his second win of the season, pitching 3.0 innings in relief. Brown allowed just one hit while striking out one batter. Starting pitcher Kyle Schubert took the loss after giving up seven earned runs in 3.0 innings of work for Lock Haven.

Fisher went two-of-four for the Mountaineers, recording four RBI's and a run while drawing two walks. Fisher's grand slam marked his second home run of the season.

Woodworth was two-for-three with four runs, two RBI's and two walks while Jordan Miller scored three runs and drove home two runs on a hit and two walks. Weiskopff and Renz each totaled two hits in the winning effort.

Scott Zuback led the Eagles with four runs, two hits, two RBI's, and two walks on the day.

The Mountaineers are back in action when they travel to Shippensburg on Friday for a PSAC East doubleheader.
