MANSFIELD – Sophomore Jena Matter led four Mounties in double-figures to snap Mansfield's (8-13, 5-12 PSAC) three-game losing streak while ending East Stroudsburg's (9-12, 6-11 PSAC) three-game winning streak.

Freshman Alyssa DeRichie scored the first two points of the ball game, but the Warriors had Mansfield on their toes, quickly jumping out to a six-point lead. However, Matter's jumper at 16:52 spurred a 27-6 Mountaineer run over the next ten minutes to give Mansfield a 15-point advantage.

The Mountaineers maintained their lead over the final seven minutes of the half to take 46-30 advantage into the locker rooms.

In the second half, Mansfield continued to build their lead as a Monique Webley free throw with 9:26 remaining in the game gave the Mounties their biggest lead of the game at 23 points.

The Warriors managed to cut deficit as the Mounties utilized their bench, but Mansfield was too much for East Stroudsburg coming away with an 81-71 victory.

Matter led all scorers with 19 points shooting 50% from the field and seven-of-eight from the charity stripe. The sophomore brought down eight rebounds and recorded four assists in the winning effort.

Conference scoring leader Mallory Moore recorded 18 points, eight rebounds and three steals while freshman Alyssa DeRichie chipped in 13 points and six rebounds. Junior Julia Stevenson added 10 points and a block.

Senior Morgan Hafer gave the Warriors' offense nightmares with her career-high six steals on the night. Morgan added five points and three rebounds while twin sister Meredith had five points and four boards.

Freshman Jessica Martin led East Stroudsburg in scoring with her 15 points. Junior Fayola Moise picked up the only double-double of the game with her 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Mansfield held a 49-32 rebounding advantage over the Warriors.

The Mountaineers eight wins is the most since going 13-14 in the 2006-07 season.

Mansfield hosts Cheyney University on Saturday, February 11. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
