MANSFIELD –
Mallory Moore captured the PSAC scoring title in her final collegiate game but a second half Mansfield rally fell just short in a 79-71 loss to playoff bound West Chester in a PSAC East contest Saturday afternoon at Decker Gymnasium.
On Senior Day when the Mountaineers honored seniors
Monique Webley, Meredith and
Morgan Hafer, it was fellow senior Moore set the pace scoring a team-best 23 points to clinch the first-ever scoring title by a Mansfield player.
Mansfield trailed 40-29 at halftime and 48-34 four minutes into the second half before mounting a torrid rally using a 19-7 run over the next six minutes to cut the score to 55-53 on a layup by Moore with just over 10 minutes to play.
The Mountaineer tied the score at 61-61 on a pair of free throws by Jenna Matter with 7:40 to play. The score was still tied, this time at 63-63 when
Morgan Hafer nailed a couple of free with just over five minutes to play.
But West Chester, went on a 11-2 run over the next three minutes to take what would prove an insurmountable 74-65 advantage with just under two minutes to play.

Moore posted her eighth double-double of the year with a game-high 13 rebounds while
Jena Matter scored 18 points and pulled down eight boards.
