Mountie Women Host Bloomsburg in Key PSAC East Contest Wednesday

MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University women's basketball teams hosts the Huskies of Bloomsburg Wednesday night in a critical PSAC East match-up at Decker Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. with live stats and ESPN radio with Shane Wilber available on GoMounties.com.

After winning two straight over East Stroudsburg and Cheyney, Mansfield (9-13, 6-12 PSAC) finds itself three games out from the last East division playoff spot and in a tie for 5th place with East Stroudsburg.

The Mountaineers can earn their first PSAC playoff berth since the 2006-07 season by winning the remainder of their games (Bloomsburg, Millersville, Kutztown, West Chester). Meanwhile Shippensburg, who is currently 4th in the East with a 9-9 PSAC record, must lose the remainder of their games (West Chester, Cheyney, Millersville, Kutztown). Shippensburg holds the head-to-head tie-breaker over the Mounties.

Mansfield faces a tough task against PSAC East leading Bloomsburg (20-4, 14-4 PSAC) who's currently on a six-game winning streak. However, Mansfield gave the Huskies a battle in their last meeting a month ago, falling with a final score of 84-75 at Nelson Field House.

The Mountaineers are led by senior Mallory Moore who leads the PSAC and ranks 17th in the nation in both scoring and steals with 19.0 points and 3.1 take-aways per game. Moore ranks 2nd in program history in scoring with 1,476 career points, fifth in rebounding at 775 and third in steals with 250.

Junior Julia Stevenson is second on the team in scoring with 11.1 ppg while sophomore Jena Matter is third at 10.1 ppg. Freshman Marrysa Moyer leads the Mounties and ranks 11th in the conference in rebounding averaging 7.2 rpg.

The Huskies rank second in the PSAC in scoring offense averaging 74.5 ppg and give up an average of 64.1 ppg (9th PSAC). Bloomsburg is a serious outside threat, ranking first in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage with 38.1% and 3-point field goals made averaging 8.0 per outing.

Junior Dana Wieller leads three Huskies in double-figure scoring with 18.0 ppg (3rd PSAC) while senior Kelsey Gallagher averages 15.2 ppg (5th PSAC) and junior Kayla Oxenrider (20th PSAC) averages 12.5 ppg. Sophomore Catherine Noack ranks 3rd in the conference in 3-point field goal percentage at 43% while Wieller ranks 8th at 40.1%.
