Jena Matter and
Mallory Moore combined to score 42 points to lead Mansfield to a 79-70 victory over visiting Roberts Wesleyan College Tuesday night at Decker Gymnasium.
The Mountaineer's lead swelled to as many as 21 points in the first half as Mansfield held a 47-30 advatahe at the break.
However, the Raiders capped a 16-3 run with 15:38 remaining in the second half to close within six of Mansfield. Wesleyan cut the lead to just two points with under nine minutes to play but they would pull no closer.
The Mountaineers picked up their fourth win of the season with a 79-70 win over the Raiders.
Matter scored a career-high 22 points in the game shooting nine-of-eleven from the field. The sophomore also added eight rebounds and a steal.
Moore recorded her first double-double of the year scoring 20 points and bringing down 10 rebounds. Moore accounted for six assists and three steals on the night.
With her twenty points Tuesday night, Moore surpassed Jessica Uhrich (2003-07) for fourth in program scoring history. Thus far, Moore has scored 1,250 points in her illustrious career.
Junior
Julia Stevenson chipped-in 13 points in the winning effort while adding three rebounds.
Mansfield will continue PSAC West when they travel to Clarion University on January 6
th.
