MANSFIELD – Marrysa Moyer and Julia Stevenson each recorded double-doubles to lead the Mansfield University (7-10, 49 PSAC) women's basketball squad past divisional rival Kutztown University (6-13, 4-9 PSAC) Wednesday night at Decker Gymnasium. Mansfield's win snaps a four-game losing skid against the Golden Bears.

With a 4-0 lead, the Mountaineers allowed a Kutztown 3-pointer by sophomore Andrea Sisson that cut the Mansfield lead to just one point at the 17:44 mark. The Bears wouldn't make their next shot until the 11:33 mark.

In those six minutes Mansfield looked like a team possessed as the Mounties went on a 16-0 run to build their lead to 17 points. Another Mountaineer run – this time 8-2 – put Mansfield up 21 points over the Bears with 7:40 remaining in the half.

Kutztown cut their deficit down to just 13 points as Mansfield went into the break holding a 40-27 lead over the visitors.

Mallory Moore led three Mounties in double-figure scoring at halftime with 13 points while Stevenson and Jena Matter each chipped in 11 and 10 points respectively. Mansfield wouldn't be denied on the offensive boards as the Mounties scored 10 points on second chance opportunities.

In the second half, both team swapped buckets over the next six minutes as Mansfield still held onto their 13-point lead. However, the Bears went on a 6-0 run to trail by just seven points with 12:29 remaining in the game.

The Mountaineers wouldn't let their divisional foes spoil their night as Mansfield used a 20-7 run over the next four minutes to lead 69-49 over Kutztown.
Mansfield was too much for the Bears as the Mounties coasted to an 81-69 win.

Moyer recorded her fifth double-double of the year with a career-high 15 points and 12 rebounds. Stevenson picked up her fourth double-double scoring 15 points and bringing down 11 rebounds.

Moore led Mansfield in scoring with 19 points on the night. The senior also recorded four steals, three assists and three rebounds.

With her 19 points, Moore sits just nine points away from passing Paula Olesky (1982-86) for second in program scoring history.

Matter finished the game with 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals. Freshman Alyssa DeRichie had seven points and four rebounds in the winning effort.

Kutztown's Ashley Wood led all scorers with 24 points.

Mansfield is back in action Saturday, January 28 when the Mounties host Millersville University at Decker.
