Mountie Women Can't Overcome Kutztown's Strong First Half.

MANSFIELD – The Mansfield University women's basketball team outscored Kutztown in the second half by 11 points, but the Mountaineers' poor first half made their comeback bid a tough one.
Kutztown(15-12, 8-5 PSAC East) started the game red-hot jumping out to a 30-8 lead with 7:07 remaining in the half. Mansfield(6-19, 1-12 PSAC East) picked-up their offense for the remainder of the half, but still went into the locker rooms trailing 17-42. The Golden Bears shot 50% from the floor and behind the arc in the first half while Mansfield shot 24% from the field.
In the second half, Mansfield battled to keep the lead from growing for the first 10 minutes.
Megan Touhey's 3-pointer with 7:35 remaining ignited a 16-5 run for the Mountaineers. Despite outscoring Kutztown 42-31 in the second half, Mansfield's poor first half came back to haunt them as the Mounties fell to a final score of 73-59.
Junior
Mallory Moore led all Mansfield scorers with 19 points. Moore shot 50% from behind the arc knocking down three of six attempts and added eight rebounds.
Freshman
Megan Touhey recorded 13 points on the night including three 3-point baskets. Toughey also chipped in six rebounds.
Senior
Nicole Pender scored nine points, dished out four assists, and recorded four steals in her final appearance in Decker Gymnasium.
Meredith Hafer added seven points and five rebounds.
Kutztown's Melissa McQuade was high scorer on the night with 27 points. McQuade had the night's only double-double recording 11 rebounds.
This was the final home contest for the Mountie women. They will travel to Cheyney University to face the Wolves to end the season.
