Mallory Moore led all scorers with 24 points the day.
After three lead changes, Mansfield found itself trailing by just two points with 11:49 remaining in the first half. However, Lock Haven used a 26-12 run to close out the opening half with a 38-22 lead over the Mounties.
Moore led the way for Mansfield in scoring at halftime with eight points, adding four steals. Five other Mountaineers chipped in points during the half, accounting for 14 points between the group. Peaches Nesmith was the leading scorer for the Eagles with 12 points.
Coming out of halftime, the Mountaineers continued to chip away at Lock Haven's 16-point first half lead, finding themselves trailing by only nine points with 3:07 remaining in the game. Mansfield pulled within six points of the Haven, but would ultimately fall with a final score of 67-61.
Moore connected on eight field goals including two three-pointers along with six free throws to lead all scorers with 24 points. Moore was just as strong on defense, recording seven steals in the game.
Junior center,
Julia Stevenson, was five-of-nine from the floor, totaling 13 points while sophomore
Jena Matter had seven points and seven rebounds in the contest.
Mansfield held a 35-32 rebound advantage over LHU.
Nesmith was the leading scorer for the Lady Eagles, totaling 22 points in the game. Kacie Hershey and Heather McHugh each chipped in 10 points in the winning effort.
Mansfield is back in action Tuesday, November 29 when the Mounties travel to Houghton College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
