Mountie women fall at Slippery Rock 59-43

SLIPPERY ROCK – Shannon Lee scored a game-high 20 points to lead Slippery Rock to a 59-43 win over Mansfield in a PSAC crossover game Sunday afternoon.
Slippery Rock (2-10) scored the first six points of the contest before the Mountaineers got on the board on a jumper by
Mallory Moore. Slippery Rock would increase its lead to 14-2 before Mansfield use went on a 12-4 run to close to 18-14 on a free throw by
Julia Stevenson with 5:29 remaining in the first half.
The Mountaineers took their only lead of the game two minutes later when
Mallory Moore stole the ball and scored on a layup to give Mansfield a 19-18 advantage a little more than three minutes before halftime.
But Slippery Rock would counter with an 8-0 run to take a 26-19 halftime lead.
Slippery Rock scored the first seven points of the second half taking a 33-19 lead three minutes into the
half and Mansfield never closed to less than 10 points for the remainder of the game.
Slippery Rock held a 42-26 rebounding advantage including 16-8 on the offensive glass.
Mallory Moore topped the Mountaineers with 16 points. She also added six rebounds with five assists and five steals.
Meredith Hafer scored a season-high 10 points off the bench with
Julia Stevenson adding eight points.
In addition to Lee's 20 points, Sherita Stanley scored 17 points and Danielle Smith 12 for Slippery Rock.
Mansfield (5-7) will open PSAC East play when the Mountaineers host West Chester this Wednesday evening in Decker Gymnasium.
