Mercyhurst Too Much for Mountie Women

Moore's 20 points and 10 rebounds led the way for the Mounties

Erie, PAMallory Moore's twenty points and ten rebounds wouldn't be enough to overcome a tough Mercyhurst team on the road Saturday, January 8. The 75-63 loss was the second meeting this year between the two teams. In their first meeting, Mansfield fell 70-51 on the road to the Lakers.

Mansfield led the Lakers until the 9:15 mark in the first half when Mercyhurst made a go ahead three pointer to take a 14-11 lead. That would be Mansfield's last lead of the game.

Moore led the way for the Mountaineer's scoring 20 points and bringing down 10 rebounds. This marks Moore's second double-double on the season. Moore also recorded 4 steals for the Mounties.

Junior Nicole Pender chipped in 10 points for Mansfield and dished out five assists.

Mansfield's freshmen standouts in Jena Matter and Megan Toughey recorded nine points each for the Mountaineers. Matter also brought down four rebounds.

Leading all scorers was Mercyhurst's Amy Achesinski who had 25 points on the day while recording 13 rebounds.

Mercyhurst was dominate inside, scoring 42 of it's 75 points in the paint.

Mercyhurst improves to 7-7 overall on the season while Mansfield falls to 5-6. The Mounties are back in action tomorrow when they travel south to face Slippery Rock in their final PSAC crossover game of the season.
