FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Cold Mansfield women drop 74-43 decision at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG – Kasey Gardner scored a game-high 24 points to lead Shippensburg to a 74-43 win over Mansfield in a PSAC contest at Shippensburg Saturday afternoon.

Mansfield (6-10, 1-3 PSAC East) struggled after the first 10 minute of the game shooting a season-low 28.1% from the floor including 17% (2-12) on 3-point attempts. The Mountaineers also tied their season-worst 26 turnovers.

Mansfield trailed 20-18 nine minutes into the game on a Mallory Moore layup and took a 21-20 lead on a layup from Kaitlyn Mourer 13 minutes into the first half. But the Mountaineers would manage just three more points in the first half to trail 36-24 at intermission.

Moore topped Mansfield with 11 points. She also added eight rebounds with four steals and became the 15th player in program history to surpass the 900 career point milestone with 901 points. Freshman Jena Matter added eight points and five rebounds.

In addition to Gardner's 24 point effort, Shawna Wert scored 16 points and Ashley Giedemann 11 for Shippensburg (8-8, 3-1 PSAC East).
