FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Grunza's hat-trick rallies Mansfield to 5-2 win over St. Michael's

NEW HAVEN, CT – Kristyn Grunza recorded a hat-trick with three second half goals to rally Mansfield to 5-2 win over St. Michael's (VT) in the opening round of the Southern Connecticut Tournament Saturday afternoon in New Haven, CT.

Grunza also added an assist as Mansfield rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit with five second half goals.

A sophomore, Grunza scored her first goal six minutes into the second half and tied the score at 2-2 ten minutes later. Danielle Hackenberg put Mansfield ahead 3-2 in the 56th minute off an assist from Grunza and Kristy Tutorow added another goal five seconds later off an assist from Jess Wolski. Grunza scored the game's final goal with five seconds to play.

Mansfield recorded 31 shots to St. Michael's 10 with MU goalie Jamie Twist credited with two saves.

The Mountaineers improve to 1-1 on the season and play host Southern Connecticut Sunday morning.
