FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Mountie women go ice-cold in second half in 70-51 loss at Mercyhurst

ERIE – Megan Touhey scored 10 of her team-high 11 points in the first half but Mansfield would go stone-cold in the second half in dropping a 70-51 PSAC crossover contest at Mercyhurt Monday evening.
Mansfield tied the game at 10-10 on a layup by Julia Stevenson five minutes into the game but Mercyhurst would go on a 17-9 run over a five minute span midway through the first half to take a 33-23 lead. 

Mercyhurst led 43-36 at halftime but Mansfield managed to make just one basketball over the first 12 minutes of the second half to trailed 59-39 on a layup by Mercyhurst's Megan Hoffman with just over eight minute to play. 

Mansfield shot 56% from the floor in the first half but managed to hit just 6-of-31 shots (19%) in the second half. The Mountaineers connected on just 2-of-16 3-point attempts. 

Touhey was the only Mountaineer in double figures with Julia Stevenson coming off the bench to score eight points. Mallory Moore was held to six points and three rebounds, her lowest production since a five point performance against Kutztown last January. 

Any Achesinski recorded a double-double for Mercyhurst with 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead four Lakers in double-figures. 

Mansfield, playing its first road game of the season, fell to 4-2 overall while Mercyhurst improved to 4-4.
Mansfield travels to the Salem International Classic this weekend.
