Binghamton, NY -- The Mansfield University women's basketball team turned-in an impressive performance in a 66-49 loss against Division I Binghamton in a road exhibition game Tuesday night.
With 4:30 left in the first half, the Mansfield defense, led by
Nicole Pender who had five steals on the night, forced the Lady Bearcats into a shot clock violation which turned into back to back 3's for Mansfield. The two Mountie three-pointers, one each by Moore and
Tegan Atallah, cut the defeceit to eight points and Mansfield trailed just 35-25 at halftime.
In the second half, Mansfield held Binghamton's Andrea Holmes, who scored 20 points in the first, to just four points.
Preseason All-PSAC East selection
Mallory Moore led the way for the Mountie offense with a double-double, scoring 17 points and pulling down 10 rebounds for Mansfield.
Atallah scored nine points while pulling down four rebounds. Pender added seven points.
Megan Touhey scored three points and had a rebound and steal a piece in her homecoming back to Binghamton.
The Mountaineers start the regular season Wednesday, November 17th in a home game against Penn State Dubois. Game time is set for 5:30 pm.
