Mansfield women roll past PSU-DuBois 91-49 in season opener – Mallory Moore goes double-double

MANSFIELD – Junior
Mallory Moore recorded a double-double with a game-high 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead Mansfield to a season-opening 91-49 win over Penn State – DuBois Wednesday evening in Decker Gymnasium.
Moore was almost unstoppable from the outset scoring nine points and pulling down 10 rebounds in just 15 minutes of play in the first half as Mansfield raced out to a 45-21 halftime lead.
The Mountaineers also got a strong first half performance from junior
Nicole Pender who scored all 11 of her points in the first half.
Mansfield pulled down 29 offensive rebounds and 58 rebounds on the night while shooting 46% from the floor.
Also scoring in double figures for the Mountaineers were sophomore
Kayla Espigh and freshman
Jena Matter with 11 points each.
The 91 points are the most scored in a game by Mansfield since putting up 94 points against Fisher College in last year's season opener.
Other strong showings for Mansfield included freshman
Megan Touhey with nine points and three steals, sophomore
Julia Stevenson with eight points and freshman
Jess Bowne with seven points in seven minutes.
Missy Aul led Penn State – DuBois (1-2) with 14 points and seven rebounds. Jessica Tarr added 12 points.
Mansfield will host the Comfort Inn Classic this weekend hosting Salem International on Saturday and LeMoyne on Sunday.
