Mansfield field hockey suffers 4-0 setback at #10 IUP
INDIANA, PA – Amouk Sickman scored three goals to lead No. 10-ranked IUP to a 4-0 over Mansfield in a key PSAC West matchup Tuesday at Indiana.
IUP held a 19-2 shot advantage in the first half with Brielle Mackey scoring the game's first goal in the 17th minute. Sickman scored her first goal of the contest in the 28th minute and added two more in the second half.
Mansfield, which was outshot 30-10 in the game, struggled to establish its offense with sophomore
Kristyn Grunza recording three of the Mountaineers 10 shots in the game.
Kylie Davis was credited with two shots.
Jamie Twist had nine saves in goal for Mansfield before giving way to
Kristie Rollman who recorded three saves over the final 16 minutes of the game.
It marked just the second time this season the Mountaineers have been shutout in game. They dropped a 6-0 decision at No. 2-ranked UMASS-Lowell in the season opener.
Mansfield, which had won its first three divisional contests, suffered its first PSAC West loss of the season to fall to 3-1 and are in second place in the division. IUP improved to 6-5 overall and 2-3 in the PSAC West.
Mansfield won the first meeting between the two teams with a 3-2 victory in double overtime at Spaulding Field earlier this season.
The Mountaineers will host Kutztown this Saturday at noon at Spaulding Field.
