Luke Palmer enters his first season as a student assistant with the Mountaineer Sprint Football and will serve as the Head of Analytics for the Mountaineer baseball program.
Following in the footsteps of his father—former Mountaineer football player and coachÂ
Josh Palmer ’02—Luke is honored to continue the Palmer family’s deep-rooted connection to Mansfield University football. Josh was not only a player and coach for the Mountaineers, but also an inspiring figure in the Mansfield community. As a student-athlete, he faced—and overcame—Hodgkin’s disease, returning to the football field with resilience and heart. During his battle, he founded the Josh Palmer Fund in 1999, which has since raised millions to support local cancer patients and their families throughout the Twin Tiers region.
Palmer brings experience in baseball data analysis, having worked with tools such as HitTrax, TrackMan, Rapsodo, and Diamond Charts. He focuses on translating advanced metrics into practical insights to support player development and team preparation.
Inspired by his father’s resilience, character, and dedication to service, Luke approaches his role with the same integrity and commitment. He brings both a fresh analytical perspective and a deep respect for Mountaineer tradition, eager to help advance Mansfield sprint footabll and baseball while giving back to the community that has meant so much to the Palmer family.
A native of Elmira, N.Y., Luke is proud to carry on his family’s legacy at Mansfield.
