Ryan Scott

Ryan Scott returns to Mansfield to join the Mountaineer baseball coaching staff as a graduate assistant coach for the 2027 season.

A former standout outfielder for the Mountaineers, Scott returns to his alma mater after beginning his collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at Elmira College during the 2025-26 academic year. With the Soaring Eagles, Scott worked in player development, outfield instruction, recruiting and game preparation.

Scott brings a unique perspective back to Mansfield after spending four seasons in the Mountaineer uniform and developing into one of the program's top offensive players. A native of Elmira, New York, Scott appeared in more than 100 games during his collegiate career and became a consistent presence in the Mansfield lineup.

He capped his playing career with his best season in 2025, starting 40 games and batting .331 while driving in 44 runs, collecting 17 extra-base hits and stealing 23 bases. Scott recorded his 100th career hit during his senior campaign and finished his final season as one of the Mountaineers' most productive offensive players.

As a junior in 2024, Scott started 43 of 44 games, finishing third on the team with 44 hits and 28 runs scored while posting a .373 on-base percentage. He also hit .303 as a sophomore in 2023 while appearing in 36 games and making 30 starts.

Scott's return to Mansfield brings a former player back into a program and community he knows well. Having recently competed in the PSAC himself, he provides current Mountaineers and prospective student-athletes with firsthand knowledge of the demands of playing Division II baseball while balancing academics and life as a student-athlete.

Before Mansfield, Scott was a standout multi-sport athlete at Horseheads High School. In 2021, he received the Ernie Davis Award, recognizing outstanding football achievement, character and leadership in the Elmira area, and was named the Twin Tiers Sports Awards Male MVP after an accomplished senior year across football, basketball and baseball.

Scott earned his degree in Secondary Education from Mansfield and has also worked within the Horseheads Central School District. His background in education complements his approach to coaching, with an emphasis on player development, preparation, accountability and helping student-athletes grow both on and off the field.

His return to the Mountaineers brings Scott's career full circle — from local standout, to Mansfield student-athlete, to collegiate coach, and now back to Shaute Field as a member of the coaching staff.
