Evan McAndrew '20 was named Mansfield University baseball assistant coach by head coach Andrew Chalot in August 2021.
A four-year standout pitcher and team captain for the Mounties, McAndrew spent the previous two seasons (2020-21) as a volunteer assistant following his senior season and graduation from Mansfield.
Two-time Male Iron Mountie of the Year and 2019 Team MVP, McAndrew made 39 appearances, while starting 28 games over four seasons. McAndrew won nine games and went the distance five times, while striking out 148 batters. The right-hander won a career-high four games during his sophomore season in 2017, before fanning an impressive team-high 59 hitters as a senior. The best game of his career came against the No. 9 team in the Nation, West Chester, in 2019 where he tossed a complete game and struck out eight Golden Rams'. His 11.06 strikeouts per nine innings earned the 62nd ranking in the country.
McAndrew's playing career took him all over the country, playing in some of the top collegiate summer baseball leagues. The Schnecksville, Pa. native played summers in the Prospect and Valley League, which both feature current and former Major League Baseball players.
Following his two seasons as a volunteer coach for the Mounties, Evan joined the coaching staff of the Auburn Doubledays from the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. McAndrew was responsible for on-field coaching decision, implementing the pitching rotation schedule, creating practice plans and more.
The Parkland High School graduate earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2020.
