Andrew Chalot enters his seventh season as the Mansfield MountaineerĀ head baseball coach in 2026.
Chalot was named the next head coach of the Mansfield baseball program at a press conference on Aug. 29, 2019.
2025 was perfected through Jacob Houtz's career, being named the NCBWAĀ Atlantic Regional Athlete, D2CCA Atlantic Regional Athlete, and the PSAC East Athlete of the Year.Ā Houtz became the first Mountaineer to be named the D2CCA Region Player of the Year and marks coach Chalot's fourth D2CCA member. The seniorĀ becomes the first Mountie to be named NCBWA Region Player of the Year since Jason Manwaring in 2002 and marked the coach's fourth NCBWA All-Atlantic selection. His PSAC award made himĀ the sixth player in program history and the first player since Ryan Wyland in 2007 to be awarded Athlete of the Year honors behind his First Team selection and Cole Serfass was named to the All-PSAC for a second consecutive season. Houtz and Shane Stossel both won a PSAC East Athlete of the Week, including Stossel earning a NCBWA Atlantic Region Hitter of the Week. On the season, the team defeated three nationally ranked teams including #9 Millersville, #11 Southern New Hampshire, and #22 West Chester, their most since the 2011 season.Ā
In his 2024 campaign, Jacob Houtz was the star, being named to the ABCA/RawlingsĀ All-Atlantic RegionĀ Second Team, D2CCA All-Atlantic Region Second Team, the NCBWA All-Atlantic Region Second Team, and the All-PSAC Eastern Division Second Team. Cementing third in slugging percentage, he finished fourth in total bases in the PSAC, batting average landed him sixth, his home runs ranked tied for seventh, and on base percentage was the seventh highest. Cole Serfass also was named to the All-PSAC Second Team in his freshman campaign. Houtz and Austin Lewis both earned NCBWA Atlantic Regional Athlete/Pitcher of the Week honors.Ā
Following the 2023 season, sophomore Austin Lewis was named to the All-PSAC Eastern Division Second Team starting pitcher after finishing in the top-ten in all major pitching statistic categories.Ā
Chalot continued to lead the Mountaineers to resurgence in 2022 where they finished 22-24 overall and 11-13 in the PSAC East, clinching their most wins since 2013 (23-27), while notching their most conference wins since 2010 and their second straight season with back-to-back double-digit conference victories. The Mountaineers' sixth-place PSAC East finish is their best since also finishing sixth in 2011.
Senior ace Hunter DePrimo set the program record for career strikeouts with 282, breaking Steve Micknich's previous record of 262 (1991-94). Senior utility player Assaf Lowengart was named 2nd-Team All-PSAC East following the season.
In his second season and first official full season in 2021, Chalot led the Mounties to a 12-24, 11-21 PSAC East record, marking their highest conference win total since 2010.Ā Mansfield also won at least one game against everyone in theĀ PSACĀ East, except for one team. The Mounties took a huge leap offensively in 2021 and ranked in the top-10 of the PSAC in homers (33) and runs batted in (146).
The Mountaineer pitching staff proved their dominance as well, ranking eight in the conference in strikeouts with 290. The team success allowed individuals to earn recognition at the end of the season, as Hunter DePrimo, Tyler Melko and freshman Zachary Shertzer all earned 1
st-Team All-PSAC East, which is the highest total of first-teamers since 2008, while Melko and DePrimo both brought home multiple of All-Region honors.Ā
In his first season at the helm, the Mountaineers were off to a 4-9 start before having the season cut short due to COVID-19.Ā
Chalot served as an assistant coach with Mountaineer baseball for the past eight seasons where he was primarily responsible for the pitching staff and acted as team recruiting coordinator.

In his time at Mansfield as an assistant coach under Harry Hillson, nine players have earned All-PSAC East recognition including pitchers Joe Candelmo, Tommy Alexander, and Tanner Klein.

Under Chalotās guidance, Candelmo set an 11-year old NCAA Division II record for fewest walks allowed per nine innings during the 2013 season. The lefty allowed just one walk in 65.2 innings of work for an average of .14 walks per nine innings, cutting the previous record of .27 (2 walks in 66.1 innings) in half.

Following the 2013 season, relief pitcher Nick Keener was drafted in the 10th round of the MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was the first PSAC player selected in that yearās draft. Eight different Mountaineers have gone on to play professional baseball in Chalotās tenure.

Two members of Chalotās pitching staff tossed back-to-back no hitters in a doubleheader against Kutztown on April 11, 2016. Brandon Garrett opened the twinbill with his no-no in a 1-0 win before Luke Hils followed with a no-hitter of his own in another 1-0 victory in the nightcap. It was the first no-hitter for Mansfield baseball since 1997 and the first at Shaute Field since 1977.
In 2019, Evan McAndrew ranked ninth in the PSAC in strikeouts per nine innings at 11.06. During the 2017 season, Hils was fourth the conference in complete games with five. In 2016, Chase Pepper ranked third in the PSAC and 27th in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings at 10.92. Candelmo was 1st in the nation in both strikeout to walk ratio (55.00) and walks allowed per nine innings (.14) during the 2013 season.

Chalot came to Mansfield from West Virginia Tech University where he served as an assistant coach. While at Tech, Chalot was the recruiting coordinator for the Golden Bears and assisted in the development of the strength and conditioning program.
In the summers of 2010 and 2011, Chalot was head coach of the Slippery Rock Sliders of the Prospect Baseball League.
Before W.V. Tech, Chalot served as the head coach of the Waynesboro Generals from 2008 to 2009. Chalot oversaw the coaching staff, assisted in the recruiting efforts, and was third base coach for the Generals.
From 2004 to 2008, Chalot taught Mathematics at Alleghany High School in Virginia and served as the assistant baseball coach, helping guide the program to a State Championship appearance.
Chalot served as pitching coach of the Covington Lumberjacks from 2004 to 2006, then as head coach from 2006 to 2008. With the Lumberjacks, Chalot led the team to an appearance in the Valley league finals.
Chalot received his Bachelor of Science degree in math education from Gannon University in 2002 and was a three-year starter for the Golden Knight baseball team. The two-time team captain earned 2nd team All-ECAC and All-GLIAC honors as an outfielder and was named to GLIAC Academic Team honors three times.
Upon graduation from Gannon, he served as pitching coach for his alma mater from 2002-2004.
Chalot lives in Blossburg with his wife Amy and three children Peyton, Jamison, and Nora Jo.
