MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Mansfield Mountaineers field hockey team topped the Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks 4-2 in the final non-conference clash of the season, on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Karl Van Norman Field.
Amanda Duke led the offense for the Mounties (4-5) scoring a goal and an assist.
Alyssa Czekai,
Amanda Ray, and
Jenna Duke each had goals for Mansfield.
Jordan Brunnabend had another defensive save for Mansfield.
Mansfield would score first in the game as Czekai would break though on a pass from A. Duke to go up by a score of 1-0 at the end of quarter.
In the second, Ray would extend the lead off of a corner, finding the cage to give the Mounties a 2-0 lead. Roberts (2-4) Â would break through in the final seconds of the half to cut the score to 2-1.
Roberts would tie the game just under five minutes into the third period. Mansfield would strike with six seconds remaining in the period on a J. Duke goal, to go up 3-2 entering the final quarter.
Mansfield would get an insurance marker in the final quarter as A. Duke would score off the pass from J. Duke for her first goal of the season. Mansfield would take the game by the final score of 4-2. Â
